Here are some shots of the glorious Bill Nighy that I have never ever shown before, so I thought I would share them.
Bill is as wonderful as you hope he would be, he has the swagger and attitude of the ageing rocker he played in #LoveActually, but has the sweetest heart and personality. These shots where taken in New York at the home of my chum
Kate Winslet. I was visiting Kate and she mentioned Bill would be dropping around (so I took the hint and put my camera in the cab). We sat on the sofa chatting over a drink and at the drop of a hat of my suggestion of doing some snaps he agreed.
But what I didn’t know at the time was he suffers from Dupuytren’s Contracture, which means he can not straighten his fingers and they are permanently curled towards the palms. I think this actually adds to the photos and his character…as it looks like he is always on the verge of doing something…a little like Jarvis Cocker, from the pop band Pulp, he has the same energy about him.
I really hope we shoot again one day and have more larks. His latest movie is Emma which is co-stars with the beautiful Anya Taylor Joy.
